Want to See Your Design on a Library Card?
The Lapeer District Library is running an art contest to select limited edition designs for library cards. Participants are encouraged to submit their best designs highlighting what they enjoy about the library and its services. One winner will be selected in each of the following age groups:
- Grades 5 & Under
- Grades 6-12
- Ages 18+
Each winner's artwork will be featured on a new library card available beginning in September 2025. Winners will be notified and recognized in the Fall 2025 library newsletter.
Entry Criteria
- The artist must be a Lapeer District Library card holder.
- Limit one entry per person.
- Contestants must enter the correct category based on their age group.
- Submissions must stay within the dimensions included in the instructions below.
- Content must be appropriate for all ages.
- Do not include your name in the artwork.
- Submissions may be in any 2D art medium, including digital media, fine arts (acrylics, oils, prints, watercolor, etc.), and photography. No Al designs, please.
- Submissions must be original artwork, not subject to copyright restrictions or ownership by another individual or organization. Art submitted must not violate the rights of privacy and/or constitute a libel or slander against anyone.
Use the Contest Design Template (see digital template below). All designs must stay within the dimensions of the library card and keychain. The actual card dimensions are 3.375" x 2.125", and the keychain measures 2.625" x 1.125".
Entries must be dropped off to a Lapeer Branch Library desk or submitted online by midnight on Friday, August 1, 2025. The new card designs will be available beginning in September 2025.
Designs submitted online must be high resolution-at least 300 dpi-and in one of the following formats: .ai, .eps, .psd, and .pdf.
Artwork will be judged blindly in the first round by the Design Contest Committee based on the design originality and how it reflects the Lapeer District Library and greater community. The top 5 designs in each category will continue to a second round of judging by all library staff.
