 igan specimens. As you assemble your collection, you’ll learn the basics
  of geology by identifying whether each sample is metamorphic, sedimentary
 , or igneous (“made by fire”).You’ll examine specimens such as grani
 te, basalt, and Mackinac brecciated limestone, and discover where they are
  found across the state. The program also includes an up-close look at fas
 cinating Ice Age mammal fossils, including the mastodon, giant beaver, sab
 er-toothed cat, and American lion.Participants will take their collections
  home.
