Did you know that we have graphic novels and manga for teens at the deAngeli Library? You can pick up a classic manga like Fullmetal Alchemist or pick the newest book in the My Hero Academia series. The library has books about characters with social anxiety (Komi Can’t Communicate), characters being reborn as spiders into a fantasy world (So I’m a Spider, so what?), two guys that are friends that may be in love (Heartstopper) and everything in between. We also have traditional superhero graphic novels featuring Spiderman, Batman, Thor, Superman, X-Men, and newer characters like Ms. Marvel. We also have the graphic novel version of classic books like Speak and To Kill a Mockingbird. If you are looking for something fun, check out The Adventure Zone or Homestuck.
Don’t worry, we also have traditional graphic novels like Sandman, Locke & Key, and The Walking Dead for the older crowd. We are buying newer manga like Chainsaw Man, Beastars, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Spy X Family. We also have Solo Leveling which is based upon the popular South Korean webcomic. Make sure to take a peek at the DVD section, we might have the TV show or anime versions of these books.
Can’t remember the author of your favorite series or how to pronounce or spell their name? No worries; we are in the process of shelving books under the series title to make it easier for you to find it. Can’t find what you are looking for? We will see if we can get it for you from another library. We are also looking for new suggestions for titles to buy for our graphic novel section, so stop in and let a staff member know at the fiction desk or email me at jmartin@lib.lapeer.org.
