Donations

The Lapeer District Library acknowledges the great importance of gifts and donations to the library’s future development and growth.  Once received, the gift or donation becomes the unconditional property of the library.

No gifts will be accepted on which the donor makes restrictions or special conditions, unless the library Board of Trustees specifically accepts those restrictions or conditions.

Used Book Sales

The used book sales are the responsibility of the Friends of the Library groups at several of our library branches. Please check the Friends of the Library page for more information about book donation guidelines. In addition to library sales, the Friends of the Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library sell books at New to You in downtown Lapeer in their Book Nook.

New to You:   286 W Nepessing St, Lapeer, MI 48446.  (810) 245-7272

The library cannot assess the value of donated books or other materials.

Lapeer District Library and Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library Endowment Funds

The library has two endowment funds set up through the Lapeer County Community Foundation:  the Lapeer District Library Fund and the Marguerite deAngeli Branch Library Fund.   The Foundation is a nonprofit which provides support for the library through tax-deductible contributions.

To give to the library through the Lapeer County Community Foundation go to https://lapeercountycf.org/.

Types of Donations

Cash gifts in memory of a friend or family member are accepted for the purchase of library materials.  Professional library staff will select the materials based on suggestions of subject matter that best honors the friend or family member.  Significant cash gifts may be used to purchase furnishings or artwork that enhance the appearance of a library branch.
