Digital Materials Overview

LDL patrons residing in our legal service area have access to e-books, e-audiobooks, movies, music and more through Libby and hoopla. Libby and hoopla are separate apps with different titles available. We recommend patrons use both to maximize digital content access. Both Libby and hoopla can be accessed through a computer, a tablet or a smart phone.

You will need your LDL library card barcode and the PIN created with your account to log into Libby or hoopla. You can reset your PIN online or contact any LDL branch for help.

Partner Libraries on Libby

In 2023, we partnered with other libraries in Michigan to share online collections. This means all LDL patrons in the library's legal service area have access to other library's collections on Libby.

Adding partner libraries to your Libby account in an optional step, you do not have to add partner libraries to continue accessing the Lapeer District Library collection in Libby, but it will give you access to more digital materials.

How to Add Partner Libraries on Libby

  1. In Libby, go to MENU > Add Library.
  2.  Search for the partner library you want to add (see list below) and open it.
  3. Tap Sign in With My Card and under Partner Libraries, choose LDL.
  4. Sign in with your Lapeer District Library barcode and PIN. You have to add your LDL barcode and PIN each time you add a new partner library and on every device you use to connect to Libby.
