Lapeer District Library Social Media Policy

Social media tools, including library-sponsored blogs, social networking sites, video or picture sharing sites, wikis, and other means of communicating online, are an important part of the Library’s face to the public. These social media offer opportunities to communicate directly with the community, to provide added value for patrons, and to be part of the online conversation about important developments in information literacy.

We encourage reader responses and comments to our social media postings. Complaints about the Library will be handled by the Director. The following content is not allowed and will be removed:

Spam and commercial advertisements.

Comments and/or hyperlinks unrelated to a given post or discussion.

Obscene content.

Racist content.

Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language.

By posting a comment, individuals agree to indemnify the Lapeer District Library and its employees from and against all liabilities, judgments, damages, and costs (including attorney's fees) incurred by, arising out of, or related to the content posted.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Lapeer District Library is not obligated to take any such actions, and will not be responsible or liable for content posted.
